Grumpy Middle Aged Man

As I mature in age I notice
A tendency not previously there
More time now spent growling
Like a sore headed bear

Little or no patience
For the troubles of youth
Thorn in my paw and a pain
Inconsequential woes more like the truth

Complaining about life
Bleating on about this and that
They know better and want to be heard
All I hear is 'blah blah' from a brat

Huffing in their own bedroom
Wondering why life is so cruel
Surrounded by gifts and love
Wrapped up in cotton wool

'When I was a boy'
A phrase I say more and more
Falls on deaf ears
Another grown up old bore

Children! Heed our words
They come from a place of love
Us adults were kids once
We've been where you speak of

There is a lesson I hope
To be found in this verse
Know yourself and be thankful
And I care, even though I may curse

Good one !! :)

@gazplend yip.. I'm clinging onto 38 for a couple of months.. @MrsS posed a good question.. When does middleageness officially start?

I always thought it was 30 when I was a teen but now it's obviously 50! But in a few years it may well be 60! I'm

@Burrfoot clinging onto 38 for a couple of months too mate! πŸ˜πŸ‘

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ well done!!! I think it's a dad thing to say when we were kids at least more so than a mom thing! πŸ˜„πŸ‘

@gazplend 60 sounds good to me πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘

@minxyMolly ty πŸ‘ and you might have a point there!

The plus side of age is wisdom! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’—πŸ˜˜

@sjw what wisdom??πŸ˜„πŸ˜˜x

@sjw ty πŸ˜‚ @gazplend I'm always being told 'you're no wise!' πŸ˜‚

@Burrfoot @sjw I'm not wise,just very knowledgable for my young age! There's a difference πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

That's from supporting the thin blue line....

@morgana don't get me started πŸ˜‰

We are walking it together ...

@morgana presently sending emails to MPs in the hope that someone actually gives a shit.. Years of relative low crime rates are about to give way to unprecedented crime levels due to poverty.. Leaving a police force where morale is an inch from rock bottom to deal with it.. Anarchy is a strong word but I feel a recipe for its onslaught is currently being brewed.. I've 11 years done and for the first time realise The Jobs (not the staff)F*****! How can a demoralised police force where quite a large

% are skint be expected to effectively deal with general strikes and civil unrest when there's a ground swell of opinion also wanting to join the strikers?

The days of cops being the boot boys of govt are long gone 😑

I totally relate Hun ....fab write but can only allow a wink....πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

@misslittleDHP ty muchly huggy.. I'll settle for a πŸ˜‰

πŸ’—πŸ’”πŸ’— Know just how you feel, I'm constantly moaning these days! Youth / bad drivers / badly designed products / 'family friendly' places with nowhere to change a nappy (they smile at your kids for free though) / gravity!!!!! etc, etc...πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Just don't get me started!!!! Think I must be old before my time πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

@MrsS πŸ˜‚ I'm finding it increasingly easy to fall out with people (was never a problem for me in the first place).. And enjoying it more and more too

@Burrfoot 😱😱 πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I'm finding family life an increasingly annoying blip I must say (in laws!!!!!!) Thank the Lord I'm not in touch with my own crazy family much now is all I can say! Sad, but necessary... 😏

@MrsS Oo don't get me started about outlaws 😑😑😑

@Burrfoot Haha, that's what I call them too! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Great write with some v.accurate observational lines my friend. Re your question above 'when does middle age start?' I think it's as soon as you start to feel the way this piece describes!!πŸ˜‰πŸ˜˜
