As I mature in age I notice
A tendency not previously there
More time now spent growling
Like a sore headed bear
Little or no patience
For the troubles of youth
Thorn in my paw and a pain
Inconsequential woes more like the truth
Complaining about life
Bleating on about this and that
They know better and want to be heard
All I hear is 'blah blah' from a brat
Huffing in their own bedroom
Wondering why life is so cruel
Surrounded by gifts and love
Wrapped up in cotton wool
'When I was a boy'
A phrase I say more and more
Falls on deaf ears
Another grown up old bore
Children! Heed our words
They come from a place of love
Us adults were kids once
We've been where you speak of
There is a lesson I hope
To be found in this verse
Know yourself and be thankful
And I care, even though I may curse
