This crumbling shell needs a lick of paint
A bright young thing it certainly ain't
The years have been hard some would say unkind
No point in dwelling, no way to rewind.
A fresh layer to cover the cracks
A touch of magnolia to get back on the tracks.
Brighten the mood and lighten the day
A shiny gloss to help light the way.
Another layer of paint on top of the last
This one will mask the stains of the past.
A bright new future, a fresh new start
A painted exterior hiding a broken heart.
