I finally wrote it! It took me forever, but it's out! I think this is probably going to be the longest chapter so far. I hope you like it! :)
Chapter 9
Liam
I can't believe that bastard was cheating on her. Can he not see how good of a person Kayla is? I was laying in bed just thinking it over. I reached over on my bedside table and grabbed my phone.
How are you holding up? I texted Kayla. Yes, I got her number.
I'm doing fine she replied a couple seconds later.
That's good I couldn't think of anything to say.
Hey, do you want to do something right now? I was a little taken aback at that. I mean, it was ten o'clock at night.
Sure, what do you want to do?
I'm not sure. Where do you live? I texted her my address and it turns out that I only live a few streets down from her.
Meet me at the red light on Harrison I texted her.
A few minutes later we were both standing on the sidewalk.
"Want to just walk?" She asked and I nodded. We started walking and neither of us said anything. Every now and then her arm would brush against mine. It sent tingles all throughout my body.
"So why did you want to do this?" I asked, referring to the walking.
She shrugged and said, "I think I just wanted someone to talk to."
"Yeah, because we're definitely doing a lot of talking," I joked and she laughed.
"I just couldn't sleep, and I've never snuck out before."
"You've never snuck out before?!" What kind of teenager doesn't sneak out of their house? She must be really good.
"Yeah I know, weird right?"
"I don't think you're weird."
"One down, a thousand to go," she said with a smile. I laughed with her and my phone started ringing. I checked the caller ID and it was Layla.
"Hold on one second," I said to her and answered my phone.
"Hey," I said into the phone.
"You haven't called me in a long time," she said.
"Sorry, I've been really busy lately. I wish you were here though, this place is really awesome."
"I wish I was there too. It sucks here without you. I miss you."
"I miss you too," I said and glanced up. Kayla gave me a little smile then waved. She started off down the road. "Hey, I'm going to have to call you back."
"Why, are you with a girl?" Layla in a jokingly voice and giggled.
"Actually, I am. I actually made a friend here."
"Oh, well I talk to you later?"
"Yeah, love ya kid."
"Love you too," she said then hung up.
Kayla
Can I be any more stupid? What was I thinking coming out here with Liam? I barely even know him. What did I even want from him? Maybe it's just a side effect from breaking up with Michael. I should have known that someone as good looking as Liam has a girlfriend. It shouldn't matter to me though. I just had a boyfriend today. I'm not the type of person to get a rebound guy. Am I? I've never been in this long of a relationship before. I just have absolutely no idea what to do.
The sound of pounding footsteps had me looking back. Liam was jogging up to me. I smiled and turned around and kept walking. When he caught up to me, he was panting.
"Jeez, couldn't give a guy a break?" He asked as his breath came in short spurts. I just laughed. The distance that he ran really wasn't far at all. It was probably half of a quarter of a mile.
"Sorry, I thought you'd be on the phone longer."
"Nope, I'll just call her back later," he said and I nodded slowly.
"If you need to talk to your girlfriend, you can. I'm not stopping you."
"Girlfriend? Oh no, she's definitely not my girlfriend. She's more of a little sister to me."
I was actually a little relieved to hear that. What's wrong with me?! I'm not the kind of person that goes out with someone else right after breaking up with someone. It must be because he's so hot. Boyfriend or not, someone with that face deserves to be appreciated. Turns out I'm the girl around that's appreciating it.
"You can call back your little sister if you want to. I can make my way home by myself."
"I want to walk with you," he said. I nodded and kept my head forward. A slight breeze ruffled my hair and I shivered. I was only wearing a tank top and short shorts. They were only made out of cotton, too. Liam shrugged his jacket off and wrapped it around my shoulders.
"Thank you," I said. He smiled and kept staring. I got completely lost in his eyes. His bright blue gaze didn't waver at all. He leaned in and my eyes widened. His eyes closed when he was about two inches away. He was just about to kiss me when I scrunched up my face and turned it. His lips connected with my cheek and he automatically pulled back.
"I'm sorry," I said.
"No, that was my fault."
"I'm just all over the place today. I just don't feel right kissing you. I don't know. My emotions are everywhere."
"Hey, shhh. It's alright. I shouldn't have done that. It was all me," he said and wrapped his arms around me.
I laid my head on his chest. He was rubbing circles in my back. I sniffled and realized that I was crying. Stupid Michael, for making me feel this way.
"It's alright," Liam whispered in my hair and ran his fingers through it. I just nodded my head. I was wiping away my tears and trying to hold them back. Finally they stopped running down my cheeks. I was just about to pull away when I heard screeching tires. I turned my head and a car had just slammed on their brakes beside us. The driver got out of their seat.
"Michael..."
Michael
They doctor finally released me. I was out of that hellhole! My mom came and got me and drove me home. The second I was in my house, I was already leaving.
"Where do you think you're going?" My mom asked and looked at the keys in my hand.
"There's something I have to do."
"Not tonight there isn't. You just got out of the hospital. I want you to go rest."
"I've been resting for the last week!"
"Michael, I want you to stay in bed."
"Mom," my voice broke, "there's this girl. Do you remember Kayla? I've fallen for her so hard. I've never loved a girl, and here she is. Today I lost her and I really need to get her back."
"Oh Michael!" She said and rushed over to me. She enveloped me in a firm hug.
"Should I take that as a yes?"
"I remember her. She was the one that never left your side in the hospital. She was such a sweet girl. She was completely in love with you a few days ago. How could you of lost her?"
"In love with me?" I asked and pulled back from her grip.
"Of course. We talked nonstop for two days. Neither her nor I left your side when you were unconscious. She so clearly loved you."
"But she never actually said those words?" I asked and my good mood soured.
"She didn't have to. The way her eyes shined just said it all. Any time your name was mentioned, her eyes would just light up."
"Mom, I've really got to go get her," I said and made my way to the door.
"Make sure to say how much you love her. I know she feels the same way."
With what my mom said, I had a knew found confidence. Maybe Kayla did love me. Maybe she'll possibly take me back. I was driving to her house only thinking about her. I saw two people on the sidewalk and thought nothing of it. Then I saw Liam's face and I would be able to tell if that was Kayla anywhere. She is forever ingrained in my mind. I slammed on the breaks and skidded to a stop beside them. I jumped out of the car and Kayla looked up. Her beautiful face had surprise written all over it.
"Michael..." She whispered.
"Kayla, please listen to me! I fucked up so bad! I don't know why I did it. You are the best thing that's ever happened to me. I love you so much. I don't care if you don't love me back. I just wanted you to know how I feel. You are the one girl I have ever fallen for. I would do anything for you. I am so sorry for what I did. I'm a terrible fucking person. I don't care if you completely hate me now. You can let the whole world know that I'm a dick. I'll just have to let the whole world know how much you mean to me."
