Work - Life Unbalance

Today, I'm in work.

Yesterday, I was in work.

Yes, while most of society has been enjoying a long weekend off, I've been working.

After seven years of working unsociable hours, I've had enough of shift working. This summer I am due to return to working Office hours, and I cannot wait.
Some people ask if it is a good idea, and if I'm bothered about a dip in salary due to the reduction in overtime hours.
Actually, I'm not!

I'm looking forward to having my rest time between work when I should be resting - Evenings and weekends. One thing that shift working has damaged are relationships with loved ones. The work/life balance doesn't come into it... Everything is piled onto the "Work" side of the scales.
As I'm in the middle of a reboot in my life, this is the kind of thing that money cannot buy, time and company of your loved ones. Without it, strong bonds cannot be established, and existing ones can be broken.

I am not going to let that happen again.

How long have you been working shifts? I used to like it, but have come to realise what effect it has on me and those around me 😏

You sound like you do the same job as me where they emphasise the importance on work life balance but like you say there is a definite unbalance. There must be a silver lining somewhere though.....

The silver lining is the realisation that money can't buy you happiness and love, you have to take time to work at it yourself!
