Ragdoll

She sat in a corner
Where the dust was building high,
She'd seen a lot of days and nights come passing by,
The only light that shone was from one window in the room,
Everything else around her was full of doom and gloom.
Her hair was really matted, her dress full of dirt,
Being left alone up here brought home a lot of hurt,
She remembered the day where she would make people smile,
Thinking back so long ago, it had really been a while.
Teddy was on the shelf, the cars upon the floor,
The dolls house in the corner,
It was never there before.
The people had all grown up now and had children of their own,
''They must have forgotten us toys up here,
We are all now unknown.''
She heard some footsteps coming
From right under where she sat,
They were coming closer now,
They'd be here at the drop of a hat.
The mum walked into the room with her little girl,
Her eyes lit up as she saw this playground, her own world.
She picked up all the forgotten toys and played with them a while,
She saw the Ragdoll in the corner and let out a little smile.
She dusted off her dirty dress,
And laid down her straggly hair,
These toys were really lonely,
She'd take this doll everywhere.
'Mummy can I have these?
I like this pretty doll, I promise to look after her and love her heart and soul'
The mum took the doll gently and stroked her on the face,
'this was my doll when I was young, in my heart she holds a place.
Let's collect all these dusty toys and take them to your room,
I have a feeling that they will feel loved again very soon'
So they picked up all the toys and cleaned them head to toe,
Soon they were sparkling and all sat in a row.
The Ragdoll looked out of the window and saw the sun rise,
She smiled and wiped a tear from her pretty eyes.
This is where they belonged right from the start,
In a room, carefree and happy, and in a child's heart.
