I struggled to open my eyes and felt bandages on my arms and knee. I looked at the unfamiliar ceiling and stared at it for a while until a familiar face popped into my view. It was Alex.
"You're awake huh?" he said putting his face right above mine, smiling. I would've insulted him if it wasn't for the fact that I'm extremely tired. So I just glared at him, hoping he would get the message.
"What? Don't look at me like that! Whose house do you think this is?" he complained. What? I'm in the jerk's house? My eyes widened in fear, and I tried to get up and run away. I am NOT staying here defenceless! But before I could straighten my back, Alex pushed me back to bed, pinning me down as I struggle to get up.
"Hey! Calm down! ...ouch, stop kicking me!" he said as he pushed my shoulders down. I tried to scream for help but I was too tired. I feel so helpless.
"Damn.." I managed in a small shaky voice. Without realizing it, I started to tear up. Do I have to be so weak? Alex looked at me, surprised and loosened his grip on my shoulders. I tried to avoid his gaze as he let go. The last time I got pinned down was when mom tried to hurt me.
"S-sorry...um, about my friends. They went too far. I know you're scared, but please just stay there. I'm not gonna do anything," Alex begged softly. What? Is this seriously the douchebag Alex that I know? He's actually geniunely concerned about me. I started to relax and look at him. This is actually the first time I had a good look on Alex. Damn, I hate the fact that I notice how good-looking he is. Alex grabbed a chair, put it beside my bed and sat down, looking guilty.
"Sorry. My friends started this whole mess. They're really good people, they just got carried away," he apologised, looking ashamed. I looked at him staright in the eyes. Seems like he's not lying.
"It's fine," I said weakly. I can't believe I just said that. After that, I heard a knock on the door before the two troublemakers came in. They were also heavily bandaged although not as bad as me. Oops, I guess I went a bit too far. But I did go easy on them. Alex glared at them.
"Okay dude! Chill! ...uhh, sorry Lizzette. We went too far," they said, looking down. Wow, the water must've splashed some sense into them. I looked at them sceptically.
"Why?" I asked meekly. Great, now I can only say one word sentences. The boys looked startled at the question, and blushed. What were they thinking anyways?
"We were...uhh, we thought that you were... ermm...cute. uhh so we planned on.... you know..uhh...gotta go." one of them said as the other nudged at him and they both left. Now I'm the one blushing. What? they did that because they thought I was cute? That doesn't make sense! Alex looked at me and chuckled. I glared at him.
"See? I told you you look better without your hoodie," he jokes. I glared at him and took a deep breath. Save my strength for later.
"Oh, I forgot to ask. Can u give me your house's phone number? It's nine, I need to tell your parents. You don't look like you'll be able to go home today," he said. I winced at the word parents.
"I don't have any parents," I breathed, closing my eyes as the memories flooded back. My eyes stayed shut trying to stop the tears.
"I-I had no idea... Sorry," Alex said when I opened my eyes. What the hell happened to the jerkface Alex, and who is this sweet angel replacing him? I looked at him, surprised and he stared at me.
"Is it really that weird for me to be nice every once in a while?" he asked, offended. I shrug.
"It's just that you always cause me nothing but trouble," I replied, already starting to recover my strength. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
"But you're nice to me now, so .... thank you," I sighed. I never thought that there would ever be a day that I would thank Alex. I opened my eyes and looked at him. His face was red.
"Did I say anything wrong?" I asked, startled by his reaction.
"N-no. It's just that...no one ever thanked me before," he stuttered, running his hands through his hair. Wow, he's cute. I grinned.
"You're blushing!" I teased, as he got redder. I laughed out loud holding my stomach. That was refreshing. Teasing people is actually quite fun. I looked at Alex when he suddenly stood up.
"Y-you stop it!" he stuttered, clenching his fists. He acts just like a kid.
"Okay fine," I said, smiling.
"But you don't have to worry though. My aunt's a busy person. She'll make up an excuse to not worry about me." I said, softening my voice. Now that I think about it, no one actually cares about me. Even if I did dissapear, the world will just go on like the way it did before. Just when I started to reminisce, a boy barged in the door and charged at Alex fullspeed, causing him to fall. I looked at the boy properly. He has Alex's black hair, and bright blue eyes. He's so cute!
