She pushed herself forward through the blizzard. Maybe when the snow stopped she would know where to go, but that was unlikely, it never stopped snowing here.
Knee-deep in the soft cold white, even taking a step was difficult. She looked up, squinting to try to not get snow in her eyes, but saw nothing, just white, and more white. Infinite snowy vastness, it could be miles before a place to stay, but she kept going.
Then, there in front of her was her rescue, a small cave, just big enough to get her out of the storm, it was perfect. She hauled herself towards it, and curled up inside, comfy, warmer and dry, finally. It was big enough for her to not be pressed up against the walls, though the back of the cave seemed a bit bigger than she expected. But she didn't worry about anything else, somewhere to stay the night, good enough.
The next morning was even better, though. She woke up surprisingly warm, then she realised, it wasn't snowing, it was starting to melt! Hope rushing through her system, she stretched a bit too far, and shattered the wall of ice at the back of the cave, and tumbled down.
She found herself in a massive cavern, around twelve feet high. This was strange, the hope of springtime coming dissipated inside her, she was alone and cold again.
