Pause a little, take your aim,
You miss the apple on my head,
The arrow leaves the bow's embrace
And pierces my poor heart instead.
My head is pounding,
My body numb,
From disbelief
What have you done?
But you just smile
With a sadistic laugh
And tug on the heart string
Attached to the shaft.
The pointed head smarts
As I shiver in agony
And it retracts,
Taking a part of me.
Now that you're gone
I search my chest
For the hole where you left
With what I loved best
And plundered my torso
For the priceless ruby.
The one I adored
Who flawlessly fooled me.
I cling to the trunk
With its twisted berth,
Where we carved our names in a love heart
And you promised the Earth,
I slump to the roots
Of the gnarled old yew
Where you conned me,
And I loved you.

@Earthbound yeah I was writing this and I was thinking 'where have I heard this before?' haha I love them π
@Delilah Lol, same here. I thought a few of those lines sounded a bit like they were from Exit Wounds. ;) Nice work, by the way.
