I knew I was about to fall over but Colin's arm stopped me.
"Vampire?" I repeated, my voice was faint.
"We won't harm you." Penelope assured me. I began to breathe again and then thought about what they had told me.
"I don't know what to say." I whispered
"It's okay." Colin soothed, kissing me on the head.
"No, I'm ok," I said "I mean, how could I forget this, I don't want to back you out of my life, I want to be with you, Colin." I smiled in his direction and he smiled back.
Life, was weird after that. How could it be normal with me hanging out with vampires?
"You ready?" Colin asked. It was Saturday, and I was going bowling with Colin and his family.
"You bet!" I said. When we arrived, we were given our shoes and Matthew went first. The machine shouted "Strike!"
How? How did he do that? And how am I gonna even have a chance at wining?
Malinda went next, then James, Penelope, me and then Colin.
When my go came, I aimed at the right end bowling pin and let go with a slight spin to the left. Strike! Woohoo!
In the end, Matthew won. After that we went out for dinner, but of course, as they were vampires, they didn't eat. I ordered a goats cheese tart with chutney. As I ate, the table was quiet. Matthew coughed once in a while but that was it. When I had finished we went to the car park. Me and Colin trailed behind, hand in hand.
"You seem to be taking the vampire stuff pretty well." Colin said
"Meh." I replied
Colin chuckled, his laugh like silk. When we reached the car, Colin insisted that he drove me home.
"Fine." I hissed, teasingly. I watched Colin all the way. His every movement. I had only just realised that I was very much attracted to him. What's not to like? He's smart, funny, caring, cute.
And a vampire.
He parked on the road, just outside my house.
"Thanks, for the riβ¦" I was interrupted by some ice cold, yet velvet lips brushing against mine. I struggled for breath and we he had finished I gasped. He laughed quietly. When my breathing had evened out he clasped his hands around my face. I stared into his brown eyes.
"Ya know," Colin began "Your very, admiring."
I smiled and he released my face. I was about to get the door handle but Colin's cold hands took my face again and his lips met mine. His breath whirled around me. My heart beat fast. I could hear the thump in my ears. I was sure Colin could hear it too. He pulled away, leaving me breathless.
"Sorry, it's just where you are now," Colin spoke quietly "I could easily kill you, your extremely delicate, I don't want to hurt you, you understand right?" he sounded hopeful. I nodded.
"Of course, but I better go now, thanks," I smiled and kiss him one more time on the lips "Bye!"
He waved good bye and drove out of sight. As soon as I got in I went straight upstairs and got changed into my pyjamas. I then went back down stairs and made some hot cocoa. Mum was sitting there, her head in a magazine.
"Hey mum." I broke the silence.
"Hey, how was bowling?" she asked. I nodded.
"It was alright. Matthew won."
She sighed. "And-and you and Colin seem-close."
"Yeah." I replied pouring the cocoa into a mug.
"Just be sensible, baby, ok?"
"Mum!" I shouted in shock. She looked at me "But yeah, for you." I promised. She laughed and went back to her magazine. I took a sip of my drink but burnt my tongue.
"Ouch!" I squealed. "See ya in the morning mum, night."
"Night." she mumbled, kissing me on the cheek.
I woke up to the sun, streaming through my curtains. I went over to the window and looked out across the view. I got changed into a baggy T-shirt and grey jeans. I rushed down stairs and found mum in the kitchen, making pancakes.
"Morning." she said flipping a pancake and catching it in the pan, with ease. I sat up on a stool and waited. I flicked through a magazine. The articles were about 'How To Lose Weight Fast!' another one was 'Use This Shampoo To Get Shiny Glossy Hair'
"Here you go, love!" mum placed a pancake on my plate and I covered it in lemon juice and sugar. The door bell suddenly went and together we went to the door.
"Dad?" I muttered.
