Chapter 6
DIFFERENCES:

Smiling, I let myself into my ordinary home and sighed at the sight. The builders would be coming soon, so I had a shower, put some makeup on, perfume on, some clothes on- maroon jeans, black, strappy top, maroon, casual blazer, white slip ons and a white clip in my hair. After all that I filled the kettle to it's limit with water, all ready for the builders.
KNOCK KNOCK!
I opened the door to a group of friendly faces.
"Hello!" one of them greeted me. I settled them down and gave them all a cup of tea. We squished up on the sofa, while I talked to the people about, roughly, how I want it to look.
"Cleo? Are you ready?" I heard Zack's voice say. I said goodbye and good luck to the builders then joined Zack.
"I'm ready!" I reassured.

"Whoa! You-your house! It's amazing!" I gasped in awe. Zack just laughed, however he soon wrapped his arm around my small waist and pulled me close to himself.
"I am sorry in advance about my family, they like...visitors..." he whispered, soothingly in my ear. I shuddered at his cool breath, although it seemed kinda nice.
"No human is perfect!" I giggled. This is when I started to suspect; all Zack did was bite down on his bottom lip, frown and hesitate. Before Zack could even start to open the front door, the pale girl (Ruby, I think her name was) answered the silent knock.
"Hiya Zack! Oh, and Cleo! I'm Ruby!" she skipped back to the bright living room, adding some coloured flowers to an already full vase.
"As you can see that's Ruby," Zack began "This is her boyfriend, Adam. Here is my cousin, Nick,"
Even though Nick was related to Zack, they hardly looked alike, Zack had soft, green eyes, pale skin, a muscular tone, he was slender, black hair and a tiny tattoo of angel wings on the inside of his left wrist. Nick had sharp, blue eyes, tan skin, an even bigger muscular tone, though still slender, blonde hair and the same tiny marking, however on his right wrist, the tattoo maybe had something to do with lost family.
"This is Scarlett," Zack continued. "She is Nick's girlfriend. Then there is Naima and her boyfriend, Lloyd. Finally, my foster parents. Olivia and Carl," he finished.
"One big, happy family," I admitted, wishing mine was like that and as beautiful, talented and graceful as theirs. Zack smiled appreciatively, after gesturing his hand forwards, offering me to go in front and walk. I carried on walking, being corrected a few times of where to go, until he stopped me outside a white door.
"Uh..this is my room, we can study in here. It's not locked...so you can go in."
I touched the almost frosted handle it was that cold and walked in, Zack close behind me. While gazing at the white walls, compacted with paintings of Zack's, his neat organisation of books across his black desk, his cream sofas, dotted around the room, his four poster bed, standing out from its boldness. Zack himself, opened his double door window. I frowned.
"What's the point of having a balcony window, but no balcony? It just then a serious hazard!"
Zack seemed to ignore my nervous attitude and walked me to one of his desk chairs and laying out some books.
"So, what part in history shall we start in?" he asked, still ignoring my awareness that him and his family were 'different'.

"Done!" I sighed, "Thanks, that was probably the only fun history lesson I've had."
"It's no big deal, I'm always happy to help," Zack said, returning to a painting of his.
"That's nice!" I complimented, in another 'awe moment' of his fluent, abstract, collision of colours. He smiled at me.
"Thank you, anyway. You must be hungry, want some dinner here?"
"Sure, that'll be good!" I exclaimed.
"Olivia's probably finished making dinner, so we can go now."
I nodded and followed him down the spiral staircase.
"Oh, Cleo. Will you be joining us for dinner tonight?" Zack's foster mother questioned, with a warm heart.
"If you don't mind," I muttered, shy.
"Of course we don't mind! I always wanted Zack to get a girlfriend!" Lloyd boomed. I blushed, I could tell he would be trouble. I sat next to Scarlet, who reassured me that Lloyd always jokes around and told me to help myself to some food. There was a lovely array of different foods laid out onto the giant table- with a black runway down the middle, coated with white rose petals, presumably done by the girls. I ended up eating pasta with a side of salad and a small slice of cake for pudding. Though everyone was skinny in the family, the boys ate like trucks and the girls seemed to eat for two, I still hated it how they were all skinnier and more muscular than me, because I ate better!
"Did you enjoy yourself?" Zack asked me, as soon as we got in his car.
"Yeah, thanks. It was nice!"
He smiled again, we stood at my front door in silence for a moment. Then I felt his cold lips crush mine. I knew he was different, I knew I loved him...
