Red Eyes Part 7

Colin glared at Malinda. His fist were clenched together. His pale face tense.
"Colin." she said calmly. Suddenly Colin relaxed. He took my hand and pulled me up off the bench.
"It's best you go home." Colin said, his voice stern. He walked me to the car but got to the drivers seat before I did.
"Ok? Can't I drive? It's my car." I inquired. He didn't answer. I climbed into the passenger seat and didn't say another word until I reached home.
"Thanks, er, for the drive," I finally said "How are you gonna get home?"
He didn't answer. He just got out and started walking down the street.
"Hey!" I shouted running after him. I grabbed his shoulder and turned him around.
"Listen, you haven't talked to me since that thing with Matthew, why not?"
He didn't answer so I carried on
"It isn't fair on me! I haven't done anything, you asked if I wanted to go to the beach I did, now you aren't talking. Its not fair! Tell me what's going on."
He sighed. I waited impatiently for an answer.
"I need to speak to James and then if allowed I can tell you, tomorrow, I'll take you somewhere and tell you, bye." he kissed me on the head and then walked off. I was left standing speechless. What? What just happened?

The next day Grace wanted to go shopping. Ugh, why today?
"I don't want to go shopping," I protested "I'm waiting for something."
"What are you waiting for?" Grace scoffed. I didn't answer. "Tell me."
"I can't." I mumbled
"Well if you can't tell me then your coming shopping." she scowled grabbing my wrist and dragging me out the door.

We were out for 5 hours. Five hours of Grace saying "just one more shop, oh, wait, and this shop too!"
We got back home at six O'clock.
"Megan, someone called for you he said it was urgent." mum yelled from the kitchen. I ran to the phone and found a piece of paper with a number in it. I dialled the number and waited.
"Megan, I thought you'd call now I'll come pick you up, wait there." Colin spoke quickly. How did he know I had called him and not someone else? He had ended the call before I could speak. Before I'd even put the phone down I heard a car door slam. The door bell went and I rushed to the door.
"Hi, Colin," I said "Bye mum I'm just going out, I'll be back soon."
Colin took my hand an led me to his car. I got in and stared at my hands.
"Is that all your gonna do? Stare at your hands." Colin placed his cold, ice hand on mine. I flinched and he remove his hand.
"I'm sorry." he whispered
"No," I whispered back "I like it, the feeling, it's nice."
He put his hand back on mine until we reached his house. It was in the middle of no-where. As I walked down the drive I saw a balcony on the side of the house, hovering over a huge field. Colin opened the front door and I stepped into a light, spacious hallway. On both sides were a few doors and at the end was a flight of stairs. I followed Colin up the corridor where he stopped at a door on the left. He walked in and I followed closely behind. It was a living room, with one crimson coloured wall and the rest were all white. James and Penelope were standing by a cream sofa. Matthew was sat down with his arm around Malinda, who didn't look very happy to see me.
"Megan." James said to break the silence. I nodded. It went silent again.
"Can anyone tell why I've been brought here?" I demanded. Colin's arm tightened around me. Everyone looked uncomfortable.
"We don't want to bring you into this life, Megan," James began "It's to dangerous for a human. But seeing as Colin has taken a very deep interest in you, it's best you know now."
"Colin, Colin… has an interest in…me?" I stammered. I looked in Colin's direction. He smiled but his arm was still tensed around my waist. I put my head on his cold chest and waited for James to go on.
"The catch is, you may not believe us or you might think of us as 'unsafe'," James continued "we will respect you with whatever your choice maybe because the last thing we want to do is put you in danger." he frowned and his forehead creased.
"I'm not following, sorry." I said confused.
"We're…" he stopped and closed his eyes
"Vampires." Penelope finished.
