The water lapped so violently,
Crashing against my head,
I realised this was the time:
Minutes on I would be dead.
I listened to the final sounds:
The echoes of the sea,
And deep inside my heaving breast,
I'd never felt so free.
My head began to tingle,
And my arms and legs went numb,
My eyes were shut so tightly,
I awaited 'kingdom come'.
My final thoughts? Of happiness,
And then I heard their sound,
A host of vibrant angels singing:
'Look what we have found!'
They lifted up my body,
Broken, shattered as it seemed,
And carried it on upwards,
To where the host had deemed...
At peace and one with nature,
Content in death and end,
I smiled with joy and happiness,
As we all did our s l o w ascend.
