As I was about to tragically die,
My life flashed before my eyes.
Loved ones past and present cried,
As into the dirt I watched my body lie.
Now I am lost here in ghostly form,
As my body is food for the worms,
I shout and scream "this is too absurd"
But nobody sees me and I'm never heard.
In the mournful crowd that has gathered here,
A familiar face smiles at me with no tears.
My vision is blurred but then my tears become clear,
For the face is that of my angel and she has come to settle my souls fears.
We talk and share some nervous laughter 'till the morn.
I am told it was my time to leave and asked what knowledge I have learned.
I say that the humans lack of love for each other was my biggest concern.
She reassures me that this burden won't be mine the next time I return.
Together we walk hand in hand into a bright light,
I feel myself rise upwards into a warmth that feels right.
Walking down a long corridor with many doors with no colour but white,
I stop at a door with my name above and walk through into a welcoming sight.
This room is filled with my loving ancestors and friends who have all passed over.
We share stories and tales with laughter,
Reminiscing what lessons each have learned before death and after.
Then the door opens and my tears begin to flow as in walks a lady I surely have missed, my loving grandmother.
