Looking at your scrunched-up face,
At how you wriggle in your place,
The strangest noises that you make,
Pain-staking time to feed you takes,
Your tiny nails dotting your hands,
The 'words' you think we'll understand,
The laughing at something unknown,
Just one week on: look how you've grown!
Fragile body in my arms,
Your presence somehow warms and calms,
Incredible that you came from me,
And now you're here for all to see.
