Who Am I? Part 5

Lewis watched me as I paced. I pace a lot when I think. It helps me I find. Irritates the hell out of Garry that he sometimes snaps at me, but he apologises after. He's not one to argue or yell at anyone.
"Why are you pacing?" he asked his newcastle accent coming out more now.
"Because I'm thinking" I answered in the most obvious tone I could muster.
"About what?" he inquired putting his hands behind his head as he was laid on the single bed.
"How long Garry and Eddie have been gone, they've never been gone this long before" I answered, I did get worried when they were gone and I didn't know exactly where they had gone.
"Look out the window, see if you can see them" he suggested sitting up swinging his legs over the edge of the bed.
"Go near the window? Are you serious?" I paused at the foot of the bed staring at him.
"Yeah, why are you scared of heights or something?" He asked an amused glint in his eye and light humour laced in his voice
"No, just Garry and Eddie never allowed me near the window in case someone were to see me who shouldn't" I answered
"Makes sense" he agreed. "I'll look then shall I?" he offered a faint smile on his face.
"Yeah, you go look" I sat on the bed as he looked out of the window. "Are they there?"
"No... They won't be long though I'm sure" he reassured me. I looked deep into his knowing grey eyes to understand whether I should trust him or not. He seemed to have a slight gleam in his eye of hopefulness of the time frame of Garry and Eddie's arrival being short.
"Ok" I nodded secretly telling him I trusted him and his judgement.
"So Delilah... When's your ... Birthday?" he quickly chose a subject - he was certainly decisive.
"13th April" I answered it wasn't far away soon I'd be seventeen and unable to do most things without Garry and Eddie following close behind. And even more undesirable with new families. I don't know why the didn't just give up with that idea when I reached 15.
"Soon then"
"Yeah" I nodded not knowing really what to say besides that. Words sometimes disagreed with me so I resorted to the most basic of body languages. Lewis then nodded seemingly stuck too.
"Any favourite artists?" he shrugged looking to the floor like he was looking in the far reaches of his mind for a subject topic.
"Paintings just bore me" I smirked purposefully talking about the wrong artists, his head shot up to look at me but once he saw my small smile he chuckled and smiled too.
"Yeah same really" he pushed his hand in the back of his hair. "What about music?" he inquired
"New Radicals, Queen, A Friend In London, Muse, Maroon 5" I answered watching his reaction. When Queen was mentioned he nodded in agreement as he did with Muse. A Friend In London made his eyebrows pull together and mouth the name - clearly not a Eurovision fan.
"Not bad" he replied in a vaguely judging tone. "Who are A Friend In London?" he asked shaking his head slightly.
"They're a band from Denmark" I answered partly, his eyes stayed blank nothing was shining with knowing who I was on about "They were in Eurovision" I added, he rolled his eyes and a light groan departed his lips before he looked to me. His eyes flashing fully with humour.
"Eurovision? Seriously?" he grinned his eyes grinning too.
"Yeah always a funny night" his grin infectious making me grin too.
"Though I don't know why I questioned Eurovision I actually quite like it" he admitted making me chuckle lightly.
"It's that guilty secret everyone has" I smiled. It was weird I hadn't acted like this around anyone, no one had ever really spoken to me like a normal person. Everyone, all the families, spoke to me like I was a broken child, someone they had to pussy foot around in case they said something wrong.
As we laughed together a thunderous knock sounded on the hotel room door.
"Oh Garry and Eddie must be back" he suggested getting up from the end of the bed where he was sat. He began to walk to the door and sudden realisation hit me.
"Don't answer it!" I hissed crawling quickly along the bed and grabbed his arm. He stopped abruptly, listening to my command a clear soldier characteristic. He turned to me as the knock sounded again, his eyebrows knotted together and his eyes swept over my worried face.
"Garry and Eddie took the spare key that was in Eddies coat pocket, he never took it off, they'd never loose it either" I explained in a whisper near his ear, Lewis nodded and quietly advanced to the door. He put his right eye to the spy hole - could mean he is right handed. He backed up to me looking around the room quickly as the knocks came more and more frequent - then stopped dead...
