As I looked up to
The dusted sky
A shooting star
Went blazing by,
I wondered if
You'd travelled far
Just to burn up,
Dear shooting star.
Dear shooting star,
Why oh why
Wont you stay,
Hang in the sky,
Better still,
Land on the floor
Outside my house,
By the back door.
Dear shooting star,
We could chat
About our lives
And this and that,
If only you'd
Come crashing down
To shed light upon
My dreary town.
Dear shooting star,
I love you so
It grieves me when
You have to go,
So dear star,
Light up my life;
If I were the moon
I'd be your wife.
