Sent radiance cascading into my
World of flat monotone,
Broke me out of my self-inflicted prison,

Restored my faith in humanity,
For the world was still worth living in
With you to share the burden.
We'd replay memories of nights spent
Drinking, laughing, singing,
Ending up between the sheets,
Bodies in an impassioned tangle,
How I relied on you in every way
And you never let me down,
Even if you could never let me in.
How I came to long for you,
For your love in return to my own,
The realisation that a 6,000 mile wedge
Still couldn't separate us.
And then, at the closing in of the end,
I'd have no fear if I could be
Wrapped in your arms again,
My head against your chest,
The thudding vibrations of your heartbeat
A comforting countdown of our final minute,
Your lips on mine as the sun set
For the very last time.
Even if it were our last day alive,
