The blackness of the night
Wraps it's silken hands around my wrists,
It's cool velvet mouth cloying at mine,
Yearning for a kiss, a taste,
To dip its damp tongue within,
Chill me, send shivers across my skin
As it brushes away the day.
I want to fall into those ebony arms,
Become part of it,
A shadow, between illuminated orange-grey pools,
Chased away by car head lights,
Only to return, creeping,
Stretched legs, elongated torso,
Clawed fingers, misshapen head,
To dive and hide in nooks and cracks
And live beneath overhanging tree branches,
To leap out from behind your back,
And fade as the hated sun
Brings again its blinding brightness.
I'll mourn for the empty, devouring, night.
