I Am Like You.

Like you, I am a work in progress.
But with all of our similarities, we are different.
So different.
We come from different places.
I don't mean different cities.
Or even different homes.
I am referring to our different origins.
You were carried for nine months in your mother's womb; I was in my mother's womb.
We were not carried at the exact same time, but we both experienced our mother's heart beat so near to us we could almost touch it.
How beautiful is that?
Knowing something so wonderful was the song that put me to sleep for nine months and even after birth is just simply astonishing.
As children we were so similar.
We both, I am sure, dreamed of what we'd be as adults.
I am sure what we wanted was something like a doctor, fire fighter, police officer, and in my case a teacher.
I was like you. And now, I am still like you. I have many differences, but we are people. We have a heart, veins, and a brain. We are beautiful and fragile, we are people. And you know, I am like you.
