The Hunger Games
The first in a trilogy of books. The first book was certainly something that only caught my eye because of the film. Before then I was unimpressed, however I have been left pleased with how this book turned out. The Hunger Games covers a wide range of topics that are everyday occurrences such child soldiers, class divide, defying governments and trying to survive under a suppressive dictatorship.
This book touches on some tough subjects, but appeals to young and old. The book is well written and is unusual as its written in the first person. An enjoyable read with strong characters. The protagonist Is female which is a nice change from the usual male hero. From reading this book you will become immersed in Katniss's (protagonist) life who will have you rooting for the whole way.
