Truth Hurts
Part 5
"Oh. My. God." I said, eyes wide.
The police officer stood before me.
"Are you Lisa Selis?" He asked, eyes unlighted.
"This is she." I answered, scared.
There was a feeling of insecurity at the pit of my stomach. Something was wrong.
"I'm sorry to say, but your mother has passed away-" he said.
I grabbed the door side. Everything began to look blurry. My knees shook.
I grabbed him by his shirt.
"N-No! She can't be-" I began.
He pushed me away a little.
"She can't be dead! I need her!" I sobbed.
"I'm very sorry ma'am." He said sympathetically.
"H-How did this happen!? Who's responsible!? I'll- I'll!" I didn't know how to finish.
He just stayed quiet.
"I just........" my voice trailed off.
This was all to sudden. How was I going to manage myself? How was I supposed to pay the bills? What about the food? Who was going to take care of me?
All these questions ran round and round in my head.
Suddenly, nausea hit me.
My knees gave away.
The officer caught me before I fell.
"Ma'am!? Are you okay!?" he asked worried.
"Y-Yeah.." I replied, shaking violently.
"I need to call our- I mean my- lawyer." I said, tears in my eyes.
He nodded and left.
I shut the door and sat on the sofa, with me lying and my face into a pillow.
I cried, until I just couldn't anymore. Everything was falling apart.
The doorbell rang once again.
"Go away," I mumbled into the pillow.
"Lisa?" A voice called out.
I immediately recognized the voice, and I went to go open the door.
