Love You Too: PART SIXTEEN

I walked down the stairs, and noticed that we were a few minutes from the shore. I looked across and saw Nate sat with Hannah, and my heart sank. How had I gone from such a high to such a low in such a short period of time?
I decided not to go and join the two of them: I was a little shaken up after the incident with Mollie, and now I felt like if I saw Hannah flirt with Nate in anyway I might explode. Instead I went and sat out on one of the sun loungers and tan. I looked up at the sun, which was now directly above me, peaking in altitude and strength. The shiny white exterior of the boat was gleaming, reflecting a million little white suns into my eyes. The bar was surrounded by people, some wearing their bikinis, some wearing their sundresses and some wearing their boyfriends shirts, that stopped just below their bikini. I gently lowered my head onto the soft cushioning of the lounger, and closed my eyes, allowing the sun to bathe my body. Through my closed eyes, I could feel the intensity of the heat, beating down on my delicate eyelids. They fluttered slightly, trying to stay as shut as they can, but I forced them to try and shut. After at least ten minutes, I felt someone prodding my arm, trying to make me wake up, but I was happy here. I was happy all on my lonesome, enjoying the sun and the elaborate patterns that were being made on the insides of my eyelids.
"T, come on, we're going back now" Nate said. I recognised his voice instantly, it's hard not to when you've dreamt about that voice for every waking second of your adolescent years.
"I'm coming" I said, inhaling sweetly and rising up. "Shall we get my things?"
"Already done" he said, handing me my beach tote from Marc Jacobs.
"Thanks" I said, rummaging inside for my clothing so I could slip it back on.
"You don't mind if I go to Charlie's do you? It's just him and Mollie have had a huge argument, and I'd like to be there for him. Only if that's okay though?"
"Sure, meet me back at the house at 7? I'll then take you to our date" I said, smiling and stepping off the boat, leading my partner by his hand. I stopped just before the end of the boardwalk that connected the boat to the land, and I put my hands on either side of his jaw and I enveloped him in a kiss.
"Thank you for today" I said, holding his face and looking deep into his eyes, feeling myself getting lost in their depths.
"My pleasure" he said, putting his hands on my hips, and then trailing one hand towards my stomach. This made me smile, as I knew exactly what he was getting at. I took one hand off his face, and reached down to cover his hand with mine. I stroked at his index finger, hoping he too would get the message.
He did; he smiled and kissed me gently and tenderly on the lips once, causing me to close my eyes in a subdued ecstasy. I rolled my head back, to let it bathe in the sun, as he planted small kisses in a trail down my neck.
"That tickles" I whispered quietly, giggling a little as his kisses became smaller and more frequent.
"I love you" he said between kisses, ad before I had time to answer, his mouth had found its way back to mine, engulfing it in a passionate kiss, embracing my body against his.
"Off you go now," I said, jumping off the boardwalk and signalling for him to pass. "Don't leave Charlie waiting!" I said, glancing over at the Aston Martin, where Charlie was, sitting on the bonnet.
"I've told him he can't sit there!" Nate complained, giving me a quick kiss, and a deep passionate look, before sprinting off to remove his best friend from his prized possession. I saw Nate get his phone out in the distance, and before I had time to react, a text came through on my phone:
"I love you, and I can't wait to see you at 7. Maybe go and see Mollie? Up to you though. N xxx"
Then another came through:
"P.S I've ordered a car to be brought round, should be here in 5 minutes to pick you up. I love you"
Moments after the Aston Martin had sped off down the road, heading towards the residential area, a black town car rounded the corner, and out stepped Hannah.
"Hey! Come on, hop in!" she cried, and after taking a deep breath, I walked over to the car, and kissed Hannah on both cheeks.
"It's so good of you to drive me!" I said enthusiastically.
"Oh it's the least I can do after all the trouble I must have caused today, turning up out of nowhere like that!"
"Nonsense, it's fine honestly. I like learning more about Nate's past. And you're a part of it, so maybe we should go for drinks sometime? Just the two of us?" I realised that I was turning into my mother: putting on a facade to suck up to possible business clients or friends that might prove indispensable in the long run. I hated it, but for once it seemed to be serving its purpose.
"Oh sure! That'd be great!" she said, opening the front door for me. It was odd sitting in the front of a town car. It'd never happened to me before, as I'd always been the one in the back, but I embraced this change, convincing myself that Hannah wasn't used to the ways of the Upper East Side.
"To Nate's and I's please" I said.
"Is it yours too?"
"Yeah, we moved in together after my accident"
"Oh right. Sure you don't want to go to Mollie's?"
"I'm sure," I said, sighing a little as I said that. "I need to set up for my date with Nate later"
"You guys still date? I thought you moved in?" Hannah said, brightening up instantly.
"Oh no, it's more of a birthday dinner. We're totally serious about our relationship"
"Oh, alright then." she replied, driving in silence for the rest of the journey.
