Love You Too: PART THIRTY THREE

-NATE-

She kissed me tenderly on the forehead before leaving with Sandy.
"Bring me back a pastry!" I shouted after her just as she walked through the door.
"Anything for you" she said, turning back and smiling. Her face was lit by the strong white lights that lined the roof of the hospital, but even in this harsh light, she still glowed a glorious shade of bronze. She stepped out elegantly, my eyes never leaving her until she was totally out of sight.
I lay my head back, and I closed my eyes. I could still feel her body pressed into mine. Maybe it was the fact that the nerves in my body were shattered, but I liked to think we fitted together like that now: a proper couple, soon to be wed.
"Congratulations" a voice said from down by the door. I didn't think anything of it at first, as I assumed it was a visitor for one of the other men in this room with me. My eyes remained closed until I felt a presence definitely alongside my bed. My eyes shot open, and before me was Victoria.
I froze, half from fear and half from shock that she would return.
"Don't worry" she said, looking more innocent than she ever had before. "I'm not here to hurt you again. I wanted to see if you were okay, and then I wanted to tell you something"
"What?" I replied, failing to think of anymore elaborate words to use.
"I'm not going to bother you or Tiffany anymore. Or Mollie or Charlie. Or your child. And don't worry, I deleted the post and your house has been debugged. I can see why my sister was so envious of you though. You really are a looker; and Tiffany's so lucky to have you. I wanted to wish you a really happy life together, because you two are so perfect together, and I suppose it's set in stone that you'll be together forever, but I really do believe that's true" she said, smiling warmly at me.
"Thank you" I said, looking across at her and smiling back.
"Now, I can't talk for my sister, but this is definitely the last time you'll see me or hear from me. Again, I really do apologise" she said, as she started to walk away.
"Victoria!" I called after her, until she turned around. "Really, thank you. What you've just done is really something, you should be proud"
"Thank you" she said, turning and walking away.
Just as Victoria had turned the corner on the way out, Tiffany walked in. As soon as she saw Victoria, she looked at her in horror and disgust.
"What are you doing here?" she spat.
"Ask Nate, I'm here to apologise and to tell you that you won't see me anymore" Victoria replied, holding her hands up as if she was a criminal surrendering to the police.
Tiffany just stared at her for a while, until Sandy pushed her gently along.
"That was Victoria?" Sandy asked as they made it to my bed.
"Yes, but she's being serious, she really is leaving" I said, making Tiffany sit alongside me again.
"Still, that doesn't mean I'm going to ever warm to her" Tiffany said, stroking one of the bruises on my face affectionately and protectively.
"I'll leave you two to it, and I'll be back at about 11am so I can discharge you!" she said, walking back down the corridor with her coffee cup and brown paper bag in hand.
"Here" Tiffany said, heading me a croissant and a cup of coffee. "I thought you needed a little pick me up; just don't tell any of the nurses!"
"Thank you baby, I won't!" I said, winking playfully at her, taking a sip from the coffee.
"I've missed you" she said, placing her hand on my chest, toying with the fabric on my backless hospital dress.
"I've missed you too" I said, taking a huge bite out of the croissant. Truth be told, I was starving after not eating at all yesterday. The excitement had all been too much, and I'd been in here all afternoon and night.
"I can't wait to get you home" she said, finishing off her pastry and lying down beside me again, in the same position as last time.
"Oh, and why's that?" I replied
"You know" she said huskily, planting a kiss on my lips.
"Excuse me" someone said sarcastically from being our closed curtain.
"Sorry!" Tiffany said, giggling a little.
She was right though, getting home would be so amazing. At home I wouldn't be the centre of attention, I wouldn't be the one being looked after. I could focus all my energy and attention on looking after my bride and my child; the way it was always going to be from now on.
The familiar sound of Tiffany's ringtone suddenly burst out, and sure enough it was her phone.
"I'm not supposed to have this on!" she whispered, pulling it out of her pocket rapidly and immediately slowing her actions as soon as she saw who was calling. It was her mother, and we both knew the reason she was calling.
