Damn!
I forgot, you were my everything...
Now I got me a new life,
One YOU don't feature in.
So what happens now?
Now the tables are turned?
Now YOU are the one to feel lost,
To feel burned...
No longer you see my shadow drift by,
As I follow you around, try to catch your eye.
No longer are YOU the source of all MY dreams,
I left you behind, so it seems...
And you, that air of cool receding,
Just like your hairline, I see it's conceding.
I see you've not taken the fun in your stride,
Your partying, philandering ways and your pride,
They've swallowed you up and spat you back out -
Now lonely and balding, skin sallow, thin pout.
No 'golden girls' hanging off your arms,
When your money dwindled, off it skipped with your 'charms'.
So as I sit here tonight, third date about to arrive,
I swallow some Cava and beam with pride.
He's a caring, loving guy - things you never could be,
(And by the way, he's gorgeous AND he's YOUNGER THAN ME!)
So, don't worry my darling, I will be just fine,
I am free from your spell, I no longer pine.
I have come to my senses and pulled myself up,
So "See ya!" I say, "Good Riddance and Good Luck".
This is entirely fictional and ad-hoc - The title just popped into my head as I finished typing it, so I'm guessing that crazy Carly Simon chick must have crawled into my subconscious, without me noticing, this evening!?!
