Self Esteem

Wow you haven't changed,
You're still that amazing guy.
Now you've got a successful job,
You've always been one to fly high.
And there I am with mop in hand,
Locking up a chip shop.
You stop and ask me what I'm doing,
And I let my self esteem drop.
We caught up on what he'd done.
Moving to London, moving back and out.
He asked me about what I was doing.
Made me want to shout.
In the last two years I've been learning ALevels.
That's all. That's it's.
He's been working his way up the ladder...
Using his charm and wit.
And I couldn't help thinking
as he drove away...
How nice it would have been
For me to be successful today.

It's funny how we define success. Good Job? Nice Car? Money?. I think of success as simply the opposite of failing. To me...as you said you've been "learning A-Levels". Assuming you've learned something, you already are successful.

I agree with @unsuitableguy - who decides? Peer pressure? Heat (shite) magazine? Beautiful piece all the same...& therein lies your success lady 😉😌😘

He made it worse because he's so lovely. It's rare for nice things to happen to genuinely nice people.

@unsuitableguy 👏👏👏👏👏 you should be proud of your a levels, that is a success in itself, plus being able to work at the same time takes commitment and dedication. You are successful, and you'll get to wherever you want to be for sure. And don't worry, doesn't sound like he was judging you. 💚💚💚

@naaviie he wasn't. Just he put a few things into perceptive. Life maybe if I'd not done my a levels id be in a happier, just as rewarding place with more benefits. Sure Alevels are a achievement. But it's be nice to have that security...

True, but you can do whatever it is once you've got the a levels, best of both?
