They're sighing,
They're crying,
They're whole universe is dying,
They long for something to eat,
To make their heart beat,
A thin layer of skin over their fragile bones,
Their cracked, shrivelled lips emit terrified moans,
They lie there, paralysed on the ground,
No trace of happiness on their face to be found,
No home or support,
In a place where death is rife and battle is fought,
You might screech at a carrot on your plate,
But to see it go to waste they would hate,
A bowl of fruit on the table,
To them an unreachable fable,
A potato peeling in the bin,
Any food waste is a sin,
Their stomachs growl like a beast is rearing its head,
Crushing vital organs until they are rendered dead,
Their hungry minds and filled with greed,
Their starving mouths we need to feed...
