She sat in the corner of the room,
Tears falling down her cheeks
And caressing her lips
Her fingers through her hair
Holding on as if it would take her away from there.
The room was dark
The curtains drawn
A mirror had been shattered against the wall.
And there she sat all alone
In a desperation all her own.
At 13 she was pretty and growing
But society had told her she was boring,
She tried to be funny
Society told her she was ugly
And she believed it.
13 pretty and growing,
Now Society's words clouding her world.
Years would go by
Before she finally realised
Society lied.
