"Do you want to go on a march against the pasty tax?"
No I don't. Here is why.....
1: it is not a tax on pasties, it is a tax on food which is served hot. Currys, Chinese, Fish & Chips etc have been subject to tax for years, it is only fair that pasties which are sold as hot food are taxed as well.
2: Pasties were only ever exempt in the first place because they were classed as 'cooling down' - same as Bread. Clearly that is not the case, they're kept hot and sold hot, so they should be taxed.
3: it's complete bullshit that pasty sales will drop by 20% if they're taxed and I don't give a shit about purchases by tourists - tourists can fuck off, they ruin the Cornish economy & drive up the cost of living for the resident population.
4: it is not 'an attack on the Cornish way of life/traditions' (see point 1). Also, If you knew anything about Cornish traditions you would know that Pasties were eaten cold.....
5: You didn't want to march when the Govt. cut your benefits fucked up your pensions and hiked up your taxes, but you wanna march when they slap 50p on your pasties.....

I know! One pasty shop tried to avoid the tax by saying that they only heated the pasties up for the aroma! It's ridiculous!
