Memory Lane

Let's take a stroll
Down Memory Lane
As rain slowly drips
On the window pane

We travel the house
The one we used to know
All the fights and pets
We had to let go

We go into our little backyard
With a playhouse Dad built
We never played on it though
It held a frightening tilt

In the way back
Under the only tree
There was a grave
For a cat we loved dearly

Let's travel into the driveway
Where another cat
Run outside in a dash
And ended with a splat

Let's walk down Memory Lane
Towards the old park
Where we lived in the summer
And our boxer, Duke, went on his own embark

Memory Lane wasn't so pleasant
As we turned to the school
Where we all got bullied
Never considered "cool"

As we walk a little farther
You'll see another school
Memory Lane tried to be pleasant
It was for awhile too

Travel 5 more minutes
Then you'll see
A little girl, working alone under a tree
Who was 10 year old me

Memory Lane started
Being better
As 4 more years went by
I started writing poems and letters

Do you remember
When you'd leave
You'd come back in 3 minutes
"I forgot my keys"

Memory Lane is
Now filled with laughter
As we all start
A brand new chapter

I'm glad it includes
All of Opussia
Cause I'm not really sure
What I'd do without ya.

Go Back

Oh what I'd give to go back to the days of being a kid When the worst things that came were bad dreams and skinned knees. To go back to the days of being care free.
