About a SUV (Mainly a Land Rover)
My favourite poem out of all the ones I have written
Enjoy
Not a red, heart-shaped box, full of chocolates and wrapped up with a gold bow. Nor a cute teddy with your initial on its tummy.
I give you an SUV.
It's shiny, platinum shell holds many memories, good and bad, yet every single one is precious.
It offers a smooth ride, even on treacherous mountains and bumpy hill sides.
Fun to drive and a statement to own.
Its sleek headlights, like a cat's eyes in the darkness of the night, offers comfort and brightness in your life in the dusky, gloomy times.
Take it.
I give you this SUV.
It may not drive well in urban city streets, but it's great joy in the most desolate of places.
It may be thirsty for fuel, but then, isn't the heart thirsty for love?
It may not be the most elegant of vehicles, not quite a Honda Civic or an El Camino, but it's agile in places where most cars would stumble and falter.
It may not be much.
But it represents how I feel.
When it's in a good mood it's outstanding and unique.
But when it breaks down you certainly wish for the worst of memories to cloud over.
In its old age,
It rattles and breaks, jitters and shakes.
Not such a smooth ride now?
Just like the heart.
Soft and fragile, handle with care enjoy it while you can,
For when it turns sour, you wish it would all end.
Don't wish for this.
Because, no doubt, it will happen. Everything will end.
It will be crushed into a compact cube that was once an object of beauty.
I give you this SUV.
Here are the keys.
Don't look back. As surely, you will regret it.
