Chapter 10
The fallen angel

“Stay behind me” Lucas whispered
“You seriously think that will stop me” The angel shouted.
“No, but I will.” Lucas replied
“I warned your girlfriend over there to stay away from you.” So it was him. I thought
“I’m aware of that and that was a stupid idea”
“Last time I heard guardian angels weren’t allowed to fall in love with humans. Or they become, how should I put this… one of the fallen”
“Lucas. Is this true?” I whispered
“I’m afraid it is. Free will isn’t for true angels” he confessed. I gulped, he couldn’t love me unless he became one of ‘the fallen’. Tears streamed down my face.
“Told you to stay away from him.” The angel shouted to me “You should listen to me. By the way, I’m always available, as you probably are aware; I’m one of the fallen”
“In your dreams. Jane wouldn’t want you.” Lucas hissed.
“Well are you going to deny her happiness? Are you?” Lucas frowned; I could see the angels’ words stung him. He hesitated.
“I’d do anything for her and if it means become one of the fallen. That’s what I shall do” Lucas said
“Lucas you can’t” I cried. My tears were like a waterfall now. The angel smiled.
“He’s a keeper, darlin. I’ll leave you two be. But be ready the archangels could come at any time, to take your wings. And you, Jane is it, remember I’m available.” Lucas hissed and I frowned. “God, I’m leaving” And he did, he turned around and jumped straight over the bush, into the forest. Lucas turned around.
“I’m so sorry for not telling you sooner Jane” I just stood there “Jane, listen to me. I would do anything for you”
“You can’t. Not this.” I cried, my voice broke and I started to cry again. Lucas ran over to me and gave me a hug.
“I promise. Everything will be ok. They probably won’t even know” I assured me
“Can you stay with me again tonight?” I asked. He let go of me.
“You come and stay with me, at my house” he smiled.
“Are you sure?” I asked
“Positive” he replied
