Chapter 5
The next morning, I woke up. Matthew lay there next to me. He stayed? It was 11:45. We weren’t up yet? Haha. I propped myself up on my elbows. This felt odd…
“Matthew?”
“I’m awake” He said in a sleepy voice.
“Did you drug me?”
“I gave you an angel kiss. They make you a little drowsy and it just takes all the energy out of me ”
“I can see that. You can barely keep your eyes open” I giggled.
“Sorry”
“I don’t mind, sleep if you want”
“I shouldn’t sleep, it won’t be fair on you”
“Sleep. I really don’t mind”
“I can’t”
“Suit yourself. I think you should sleep though” I got up and looked out of the window. Beautiful day. The sun was shining, Alonzo was walking down the street… What! Alonzo! I took another look. It was him. I hid behind the curtains. “Alonzo” I whispered, when Matthew looked at me strangely.
“What?!” He half shouted and got off of the bed to stand with me. “Did he see you?”
“No. I don’t think so” Matthew pulled me to sit on the bed.
“If you come close to me he will only detect an angel not you” He put his arm around me. I started to think, so I put on a puzzled face… “Sorry the closer you are the harder it is to detect”
“I wasn’t wondering that, but good to know”
“What were you wondering?” He asked me and I giggled a little. “What?”
“Just what it would be like to kiss you again” He smiled at me and laughed quietly. I bit my lip and hid my face.
“And..?”
“Good idea…?” Matthew turned my head and kissed me on the lips. I melted into his arms and continued to kiss him.
All of a sudden there was a bang on the door. Alonzo. It must me him. He must have seen me in the window. It was all my fault. How did he find us in the first place? The phone call…. He must have traced it…. Ughh I’m so stupid.
“Take my hand” I did and he dragged me off the bed and into a room. He put his hand up to the ceiling and a hole was made. Ladders came down. What? I’m so dreaming… This was one REALLY STRANGE dream. “Climb up”
“What about you?” I asked
“I’ll follow after you” I climbed up and Matthew followed after me. He pulled up the ladders and sealed the hole.
The attic was large and brightly lit. There was no windows or doors but there was a double bed, a bookshelf, a fridge, a kitchen, a bathroom and a closet. Wow. It looked so cool.
“We shouldn’t be here for long but if we are its going to alright. I can cook want and I’ll sleep on the floor so you can have the bed”
“I can’t let you do that”
“I’m not letting you sleep on the floor” Ughhh this is so confusing.
“You will just have to lie with me” I said. Problem solved. He looked at me, giving me an ‘Are you sure?’ look. “Either that or I sleep on the floor” He nodded.
We heard noises coming from downstairs. Smashing noises. Alonzo was downstairs, smashing things so he could find me. What would he do if he found me? Kill me obviously.
“He can’t find you. I’ve made sure he can’t find you. He can’t get in here, I promise”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes”
“Can you still stay close to me?” He nodded. “What does he want with me?”
“Higher rank in hell” Matthew said simply.
“What makes me so special?”
“You have a guardian angel. There are only 8 people in the world who have one”
“Why do I have one?”
“You have a special birthmark on your wrist” I twisted my wrist around. There was a birthmark. I’d never really noticed it before
“So because I have this, I get you” He nodded and I smiled. “Why choose now to try and kill me?”
“They’ve always tried to get you, but I’ve been here to stop them. It’s just this time they tried something new. By befriending you they have your trust, I wouldn’t let you give it to them”
“You’ve been protecting me since I was born?” I asked and he nodded “Thank you” I hugged him.
“You’re welcome”
“How long do you think he will be here for?” I asked. The noise was starting to scare me, even though I knew Matthew was here.
“Fallen angels never need to rest so he might be here sometime” He replied and I sighed loudly. I lay down on the bed and put my head on the pillow. Matthew lay next to me, his hand on my waist. We soon fell asleep…
