Chapter 3
I ran upstairs to get dressed. Alonzo had left and he said he was coming back in 30 minutes. Where was he going? Hmmmm… I put on my skinny jeans, my long white shirt, my short sleeved stone washed denim jacket and my converse. I also put on some bright red lip stick and tied my hair in a bun. Still not enough? What else could I put on? Mascara… I put it on. Ok… I look a little better. Was I really trying to impress him? Ughhhh…
I walked down the stairs and into the dining room. Someone knocked on the door, it had to be Alonzo. I opened it…
“Oh hi” I said. There was a boy at the door. I didn’t know him, maybe he knew Alonzo. “Emm who are you?”
“Hi, sorry I’m Matthew. I don’t know how to put this any better but you have to come with me. NOW!” What? That was a little abrupt.
“What? Why? I’m waiting for someone”
“Yeah well don’t wait for them. Come with me” He said.
“Not until you tell me why”
“It’s hard to explain. I promise I’ll tell you all of it on the way. Just please come with me” I looked at him worriedly. Was he trying to trick me? Maybe he would kill me once I was alone with him. Maybe worse. But he looks like he genuinely needs me to come. Do all weirdo’s look like that? Would they come knocking on a random door? “We have to go now. Do you trust me?” I stayed silent. Did I trust him? to be truthful yes I did. I nodded slightly and he grabbed me hand pulling me away. He took me to a car.
“Wow Wow Wow. I’m not going in a car with you. I don’t know you” I said. Getting into that car would be really risky.
“I thought you trusted me. Now please we don’t have time” I got in the car and he got in the driver’s seat.
“Now tell me where we are going. Why am I here? And who the hell are you?”
“Right… Well as I’ve said I’m Matthew and to start off with a shock, I’m your guardian angel” I burst out laughing. Was he being serious? Really?
“What? There is no such thing”
“I’ll prove it to you as soon as we get out. You’re here obviously because I’m trying to protect you and we are going to a safe place” protect me? Really? And this was because he was some ‘guardian angel’.
“Protect me from what?”
“Someone who is trying to kill you. His name is Alonzo. He’s a fallen angel that wants to kill you because he wants some high rank in hell” This was just hilarious. He must be some enemy of Alonzo’s.
“You’re crazy. Alonzo is my boyfriend” I laughed.
“He’s your what?!” Matthew said sounding angry. Why would he be angry? Really? His story is total rubbish.
“He’s my boyfriend. Some guardian angel you are, if you don’t know that” I laughed again.
“You’re just about to dump him. Call him now and say you have to move on”
“I don’t have his number and I don’t have my phone”
“Then he will just have to get the picture”​
“STOP THE CAR!” I yelled.
“I have to get you out of here. I cannot let him find you and hurt you” What is wrong with him?
“STOP THE DAMN CAR”
“I’m sorry, but I have to get you out of here” He stepped on the accelerator and sped down the road.
“Oh my gosh. I’m going to die. Someone help me! Anyone!” I wasn’t shouting. Why wasn’t I shouting? I was whispering. Help me! Ughh now I couldn’t even talk.
I stayed quiet trying to find my voice and I got so caught up in that I didn’t even think to struggle. Matthew stopped the car at a small house. There was no way I was going into that house with him.
“Are you coming?” He asked me and I shook my head. “What if I prove I’m an angel? I’m your guardian angel” I stared blankly at him “Get out of the car and I’ll show you” I hesitantly got out of the car. “Take my hand” Never! “Just please take my hand. I promise I won’t hurt you” I held out my hand slowly. “Thank you. Now I need you to do one thing. Kiss me”
“What? No. Why?”
“If I am to show you, you have to kiss me”
“Find another way and find another girl. You really think that I would buy all of this I’m your guardian angel rubbish?”
“It’s true” He said.
“Prove it” Matthew kissed me and I went into a sort of vision. It was bright and I could hear fluttering. Like wings, but really loud. I saw people, hundreds of people, with wings. Suddenly, I was pulled back. I stepped away from Matthew. “What are you?”
“I told you, I’m your guardian angel. Now let’s go inside and get you away from Alonzo” Matthew dragged me inside and I sat down on a chair. He sat on the opposite side of the table.
“So how long am I actually going to be here?” I asked
“I don’t know… A couple of weeks, month’s maybe” He replied.
“Weeks? Months? No I can’t be here that long”
“It’s for your protection”
“I don’t care I need to get out of here”
“No” I stood up. “You know I’ll just bring you back. I will drag you back if I have to” I sat back down and we stayed in silence. “I’m sorry for kissing you before”
“No it’s fine. I should have listened”
“I promise not to ever again. You should be angry at me for taking you away. I’m sorry for that too. Also I’m sorry about Alonzo”
“For an angel you have a lot to be sorry for” He laughed “And it’s no big deal about Alonzo I knew him for about an hour”
“You met him and he immediately asked you out. You didn’t find that odd?”
“A little”
“I’m just glad I got to you before he could” He said.
“Thanks”…
