Lostprophets

A prophet in religious terms is a person who has been contacted by God or other supernatural being, that only they can see or hear.
The prophet would be spoken to and sometimes would converse with the supernatural being. The prophet would then pass on the information that was given to them to humanity, because they believed everything that was told to them. This is called a prophecy.

Some prophets were ridiculed for not making sense and contradicting what was understood of a religion or deity.
Some prophets were followed and admired and their word was taken as law.

Meanwhile, schizophrenia is a mental disorder. It's most common symptoms for a sufferer are paranoid or bizarre delusions, auditory hallucinations and problems with thoughts, feelings and behaviour.
So, in short they can hear things that do not exist, can believe in something although it is not true and can be emotionally and physically unstable.

Alternatively a con man takes advantage of people by exploiting characteristics of human nature such as honesty, dishonesty, compassion, vanity, greed, naivety and so on.
As a result there is not one definitive description of a victim of a con man.
The victim simply relies upon the good faith of the con artist.

I thought you were going to say religious prophets were schizophrenics. Very interesting thoughts as always ☺

@eddie12309 Ezekiel lay on his side for over 1 year because God told him to. Ezekiel preached and prophesied and said a lot of stuff too which never happened. Isaiah was a prophet who walked around naked for 3 years... a voice told him to. There was this guy called Moses who climbed up a mountain a few times because God told him to. No one heard God tell him this of course or saw him for that matter. One time he returned from the mountains with some rocks carved with rules that had to be followed. At the time he noticed some of his followers had left before he got back so he swiftly ordered there execution, a couple thousand executions I believe. These were people who followed him into a desert because the voice in his head told him they should. Thou shall not kill?, oops, he forgot about that rule. Then there's Paul. He wrote most of the new testament, which were stories about Jesus. He never met Jesus. Apart from the times he saw him... in his head. Then there's the guy who wrote Revelations. John. He had visions of the end of the world, murder, death... nasty kind of stuff.

Thank you for the lesson. I do understand. I'm fascinated by religion but apologies if I offend but think its all bollocks. I would be happy to say prophets heard voices but fear I may be burned at the stake. 😞

Just wanted to add some context to my argument. Not sure why I tagged you in.

I totally agree with you @eddie12309

@blindsilence no problemo😉

I've just read Richard Dawkins "The God Delusion ". Very interesting book. 🌅

@TheCodsPollocks might give it a go.

Thanks for the tip.

And the band? Which category do they fall into?

@Nom it's a debatable subject but I think they are a rock band.

@blindsilence oh. What a novel idea.
