Written for a friend in need. <3
By Me. Emily.
Sometimes we think that we have no worth
Sometimes we question the time of our birth.
Sometimes we feel that who we are isn't good.
And don't love ourselves in the way that we should.
But we've got to remember that we are worth more,
Than any bright metal, or jewel, or ore.
Our lives are more precious than how we may see.
There's nothing more perfect than who we will be.
And we forget that, when times get tough.
We forget who we are when the path becomes rough.
And soon we are thinking that our lives must end,
That nothing good will come once we're around the bend.
But would you smash a diamond, or destroy gold?
Would you destroy anything almost too precious to hold?
Would you stomp silver into pitiful dust?
Would you leave brass in a corner to rust?
You have to see, Patrick, that you are worth more,
Than any dear treasure ever seen before.
And though you don't realize, though you don't know,
I've written this poem for when you feel low.
Remember that you are a unique, perfect being.
And that what you see is not what others are seeing.
