The Deal About Apples

Of all the fruits in the fruit bowl, the apple's the most illustrious
Steve Jobs made a mint, designing apples to be industrious

It has the power to heal, if administered once day
When Newton discovered gravity, an apple showed the way.

To denote great affection, they say you're the apple of my eye
And it becomes quite patriotic and American when baked into a pie.

In ancient Greece apples were prized as a source of eternal life,
One of the labors of Hercules,
And a ploy to create strife

The Norse Gods as well required apples to maintain youth and health
Loki, having once betrayed them had to return them with stealth

The apple shows up in the good book,
Tempting Adam and Eve
As well as the wine and cheese party,
Hosted by Adam and Steve

Throughout all of history, apples have been a big deal
Of all the fruit in the fruit basket they have the most appeal
