Miss Pronunciation

We all remember that fateful day,
When Miss Pronunciation finally got her way.
After pushing the monarch to abdication,
She took control of our good nation.

The new queen had quite a bee in her bonnet,
Which she proudly declared in her opening sonnet.
“From this day forth I decide how you pronounce,
Any other way I will simply denounce!”

And so, with that, she waged “war on cliché”,
Quiche was no longer quiche; it was now ‘quiche’.
The queen issued decrees from the comfort of her throne,
“Banish anyone,” she cried, “who pronounces scone as ‘scone’!”

Continuing on the high-tea theme, her majesty called for a shooter.
“I want you to execute anyone who disagrees with butter!”
Then suddenly the topic changed, the queen’s voice filled with bass,
“Confiscate all lawnmowers from those who don’t say ‘grass’!”

Miss Pronunciation took us on a vicious ride,
Rendering the nation completely tongue-tied.
A rebellion began against her tirade,
And out of this new words were made.

Codswallop, slumgullion, gasconade,
Quadrel, mackle, and noyade.
Embulalia, haslock, palletron,
Saburra, fedifragous, and kalon.

The queen then developed quite a stutter,
As these newfangled words she tried to utter.
Although this "obscenity" she did refute,
The words in her mind simply didn't compute.

The queen's tongue gave up, it could take no more,
It lay limp and still in her aching jaw.
Without her voice the queen lost her powers,
And this good nation once more was ours!

Credit must go to one of @brownowl2012 's friends, whose way of saying quiche sparked all this.

Thanks also to www.kokogiak.com/logolepsy/ , as this is where I sourced the obscure words. Sadly my lexicon is not quite that impressive haha!
