The library was set in a precise nature, the white roses and sage scented candles to attract the spirits. The round table to create a protective circle of positive energy, the curtain; the water; all designed to offer a warm and welcoming ambience for those attending, and those beyond the veil.
There was total silence. All that could be heard was the faint sound of laughter from the remaining guests in the great room.
There was a nervous, anticipation in the air. Forgach was the first to speak: "Friends, before we begin, I wish to thank you for coming at such short notice. I know some of you already had prior engagements this evening. "
A silent acknowledgement was conveyed round the table.
"Some of you know the history of my ancestors and the tragedy that befell young Nell. However, Michaels health is deteriorating, and deteriorating fast. This could be our last chance. "
"Thank you." Anna said solemnly.
"Young Gabriella will take the lead tonight. I would also like to ask Lazlo, when the time is right to also participate." Forgach continued in a hushed but serious tone.
All but Anna and Michael instinctively looked at Füst. He did not flinch, his gaze intent and steady on Forgach. Although Mária could feel those eyes upon her and it unnerved her.
He continued: " So my friends, please let's join hands and pray."
"Dear spirits, we respectfully ask that you honour us with your presence this evening. We bless this room and offer our solemn protection."
They all opened their eyes and while still holding hands, Anna said "Shall we begin?"
