THE UNCHOSEN CHOICE

Life is something you cannot choose for yourself.

If you are given life; it's your choice whether you believe that to be good or bad; lucky or unlucky.
But even once you think you've made your mind up on life- Life changes; turns and twists.
And with it; so do you.

Some people say life is based on choices, but the biggest choices in existence are those you have NO amount of control over, to be honest - no choice.

Choices in life are full of irony.

You are thrust into a world of sins; greed, jealousy and betrayal, as soon as you begin your life that you had no choice in.

You go to school because you have no choice...
"it's up to you, it's your choice", they say...

...BUT IF YOU DON'T GO WE WILL TAKE YOUR COMFORT BLANKET AWAY/ STOP YOUR POCKET MONEY.

So you choose the only choice that you're allowed; IRONY.

Choices are bitter and twisted, full of deceit.

Once you've left school you get a choice to take your exams, yeah?
"It's your choice but if you don't take exams you'll end up a low life - no job, no money, no prospects etc."
MANIPULATION.

Really... Now you think that you don't really have a choice, and that's because you don't!
So you choose the only option that you're manipulated into.

Many more opportunities, excuse me - choices, come up in life... Many of which are not choices at all...
Well, others may say they are choices, but they are merely thoughtless traps with only one option available.

Who? Whoever invented such a ironic and paradoxical word, one where every un-choosable choice has bad consequences, or so you're told...
Leaving only one option - the option you've been advised, or worse, told, even been forced to take!?

You soon begin to realise that you feel trapped, under control you could say - you wouldn't be wrong either...

CHOICES aren't really available to us, as nobody's in this huge and horrid world where society judges those who make the 'wrong' choice. And OMG, they've made the 'wrong' choice, they bit the bullet and tried to go against the grain...
But oh no, just because they took that unmentionable choice they will pay forever through society's judgements.

But who are we as a society to impede such choices on the individual's of today,where the choice is in all reality a case of, "you have a choice but if you choose the 'wrong' choice, you're doomed"...?

Rather than being responsible for making the wrong choice anymore, I like to believe that, well, really I have no choice, therefore whatever I decide, it's not my fault if it all goes wrong. I only tried to do the best thing. I tried my best,

...but that didn't quite work.

And now, 10 years on and today I end up being interviewed by a doctor, social worker and a layman.

I was spoken to like this;
"You have a choice whether you are admitted to hospital or not. However, if you choose not to be admitted then we'll choose to section you".
