My Father

My father

My father is full of life even though his years are old
I can listen for hours to stories he has told
Never bore of his company or of his spirit that he does share
For he gave me my life and made me live it full of care
To appreciate living the best and the worst
With enthusiasm and gusto and a wonderful thirst
On my journey he s been there always around
His knowledge and guidance completely
profound
His wise old words and mischievous behaviour
Completely imbedded in my heart to savour
His ways of rememberance and friendships past
The memories he has made for me that will forever last
His generous ways more than money can buy
Covering anything hurtful with perhaps a small White lie
For he is a compassionate loyal
family man
Who to make happiness will do all that he can
Never a moan or grumble of Ill health
Just a cheery outlook still full of wealth
Infectious and emotional for which I a m glad
My father to me is simply my dad xx
