Snow from a dark sky fell,
on a pillow feather day,
breathing change in white silence,
tempting melancholy away.
Snow from a dark sky fell,
powder puff dawn awoken,
woods alive with deciduous snow leaf,
an autumn spell broken.
Snow from a dark sky fell,
world in metamorphosis,
I stand, head back, mouth open,
arms in rapturous crucifix.
Snow from a dark sky fell,
into my soul ecstatic,
rejoicing in this winter baptism,
I leap into a world fantastic,
Snow from a dark sky fell,
christening this winter child,
I know I will never behold,
more wonder than this,
in a weary world
I bathe in beauty elemental, when
Snow from a dark sky fell.
