As a rule I avoid open roads during daylight hours, unless terrain forces my hand. I can't remember the last time I saw a car or truck, but from time to time I have come across fresh tread marks. I prefer to heir on the side of caution, deciding instead, not to investigate. The same goes for small makeshift tent and box communities. Sometimes, when my travels bring me close enough to them, I can smell meat cooking. As tempting as that wonderful scent may be, perfuming the air, I have yet to see, hear or otherwise detect any livestock filled pasture.
