Everytime I hear that song
The word 'you' appears
And I see our memories
Dancing on strands of morning sun
And morning air
The tune to follow and lyrics to know,
All played softly on my mind,
The rhythm in time with my racing pulse
You left songs behind, the constant soundtrack
For my day to day
And you left the casette inside its sleeve
For me to find when you had gone,
And you signed it too,
With a marker pen, your name
Written with your very hand in pale,
Glinting, silver ink
That seeped through pages
Like mercury running, tears soaking
Through my veins, within my heart
For the song it plays,
The drums kick in,
And the smiles begin
When the final chorus starts.
