Based on a recent comment I made I'd like to make a point on swearing. It's in no way an original thought but fuck it, here goes nothing.
Basically a "swear word" should never be considered rude, inappropriate or otherwise not suitable for social situations etc.
"swear words" are, at the end of the day, simply adjectives, and fucking good ones at that.
If you want to emphasise a point, "fucking" is the perfect tool, it gives the subject so much more...I don't know what (power?) much more so than "really" or "very" or any other mundane word.
In itself, "fuck" is a harsh word, the "f" and "k" providing it with some element that doesn't make it entirely appealing. But that doesn't mean it shouldn't be used.
It certainly doesn't mean it should be censored either. I heard once that the times had the word "fuck" on their front page at some point, but of course they had to write it "f**k"
Now I'm no expert on psychology or linguistics or anything else that would qualify to make this assumption, but when people see "f**k" do they not just read "fuck"? Why beat around the bush? Just write what you want.
In this day and age people should not have to worry about others who might be bothered about swearing. Even Harry fucking potter has swearing in it.
Anyway, stupid rant, but that's what this is for so fuck it.
