I can still recall
Sitting at the table alone
A solitary chair as a poor mans throne
And just a dialling tone as I wait for your call
By default or by design
Fate decided we would meet
Now you're making tracks with your dancing feet
You didn't need deceit to say you couldn't be mine
For us, the sun shined brightly
It lit a lovers flame
I thought we felt the same
But in the shadow, nightly
Gone, never to return
The flame you spurn
But I have sunburn
You would soothe my brow
Tell me everything is alright
But the company you kept nearly every night
Turning off the light made it better somehow
One day you were gone
Someday I may find out why
Maybe blackened wings don't allow me to fly
Nowhere near as high as the cloud you're upon
Sunset in the sky now
And the flame has died
But not inside
Stopped asking why, how
As our two worlds turn
A lesson still to learn
Guess its time to cry now
A tear melts on my face
And taking its place
A severe case
of sunburn
