I loved the way the morning light came cascading through the shuttered window. The blinds couldn't hold back the light, seeping in through every crack. And with it came the warmth of a new day. I reluctantly pulled myself out from under the safety of the covers and into a sitting position. I stretched first my arms, and then my neck, attempting to work out the stiffness that had overcome my body during sleep. Once satisfied my muscles would not collapse on my upon standing, I gathered the courage to throw off the last of the covers and brought my feet down to meet the chilled wooden floor. And I just sat there for a moment, on the edge of the bed, and thought. I sat there, just thinking, and stalling for time, until mom called me down for breakfast. The thought of food brought me out of my stupor, and energized, I jumped up and bolted down the stairs.
