"Shine bright like a diamond." Burn grey like charcoal. Soldier for love, warring for the role. Once perfect in my eyes, our love fueled my soul. I toiled for it, bled for it, shed tears for it..prayers were said for it. I talked to God so much about you, I'm sure He questioned my creation. I existed only as an extension of you. Then, one day, we separated. You left me in the darkest of silence, holding onto an empty bag. Yourself removed, me staring down at my shoes, confused ..a little mad. No heart to hold; my hands numbed from the cold..eyes heavy, leaking sadness from my soul. Something so good, gone so bad. My mind forced to replay all of the good times we had. Nothing but memories coming back to me. Not you. Though many times, I thought I heard your voice at my door..saw a flicker of light, perhaps your feet walking across the floor. Must have been dreaming, but please don't wake me; let me sleep just a little while more. Rewind. Pause. Freeze frame. I'm smiling now, but I know things will never be the same. I'd give anything for one of our late night, candlelight bubble baths and to hear you call out my name. Though my reality is silent. No moans, screams or pleasurable pains. Just the truths heartaches are made from; driving me insane. Reliving the old days, expecting the present to change.
