Baby was a cat I used to know
It was quite some time ago
I rescued her, she rescued me
Showing me what a wonderful cat was she
She was small and very petite
I just had to have her at our first meet
Grey and white fur, the softest I've felt
Our first cuddle, my heart just melt
Her eyes were green, loving and sweet
Speak to her and she'd just flop into a heap
She didn't just meow now and then
She chatted to you like a feline friend
When I'd be singing in the bath
She'd join in too, how I laughed
She had a sparkly collar with a bell
You were proud of that I could tell
The way you swaggered and so cock sure
Like a feline model on a feline catwalk
After 7 sweet weeks, you never came home
I knew in my heart, you'd left me alone
I found you in the middle of the road
Distraught, my heart a broken heavy load
I only have my cherished pictures of you
I hold dear as there are so few
In bed sometimes I will feel a gentle tap
A sensation of a cat climbing onto my lap
I'd like to think that Baby's there for a cuddle
Gently finding a place to curl up and huddle

Writing has been my friend since a teenager...I laugh, cry, think, pretend, smile as I do it. I feel that I communicate better through my writing as in person I can appear a tad scatty.
