Few Words, Much Love

It's true what they say
Patience honestly pays

For with love and TLC
You have come on leaps and bounds
You found ways to cope
With loud noises and sounds

Life is black or white
For you it is what it is
Academically you are
My super little whizz kid

Socially life is tough
But you have great friends
They have grown up with you
On them you can depend

Your confidence is peaking
I am so incredibly proud
For when you were little
You were frightened in a crowd

Although we were told
High functioning Aspergers
I chose not to take things further
Endless meetings and being referred

For to us and your friends
You truly are a special boy
Intelligent, gentle and sensitive
As my son you are a joy

I didn't want you labelled
There's that Aspergers kid
Having to explain yourself
For things you said or did

You have amazing qualities
It's them that make you
You are wonderful
In all that you do

I know life may be tough
But we are there all the way
You have adapted to situations
Each and every day

I look at us now
I often shed a tear
Remembering my worries
Sleepless nights and fear

I was scared for you
Of what your life would be
But you proved to us all
That you're made of strong stuff see

Just stay you my son
It's the world that's not right
When the light goes out in others
You'll be there shining bright

Dedicated to my wonderful boy, 10 years of joy in my life.

Writing has been my friend since a teenager...I laugh, cry, think, pretend, smile as I do it. I feel that I communicate better through my writing as in person I can appear a tad scatty.

@misslittleDHP wow Kim this is beautiful ❤ brought a tear to my eyes. Absolutely perfect!! Fab write gorgeous 😘💓 love it!! Thank you!! X

Awww this is sweet Kim. Tells my story and he is also 10 now (except for school part, I went through hell with them) ❤❤❤❤😘😘😘😘😘

@sammielee46 @sarahgamal I appreciate the lovely comments my sweet...my sons problems were picked up at nursery and then in reception...we know him and understand him and treat him no differ

@sarahgamal @sammielee46 no different to the other children..it's just being aware of what upsets him...such as a school play, meeting new people etc...but he truly is a delight. Big hugs for the RP's too lovely ladies 💪💪💪💋🌹🎄

Brilliant write hun. Made me cry. My friends son is/has Aspergers. He's now 16 and is the most wonderful, charming, creative lad. So different from the young lad who was angry and stressed. He now knows how to put coping strategies in place. (I'm still sniffling from your poem lol). ❤

Wonderful, I am so glad it has been a positive outcome and wish it always was. I nearly missed this, I don't know how to access the posts that are #disabilityaware I am sure there must be a way. Your son is lucky to have you! 😊😽

Lovely stuff hun. Beautiful tribute 👏👏👏👍❤🌹

Just lovely, my 17 year old brother has Aspergers and although he finds social life difficult he has a small group of friends, goes to college now (we never thought he'd want to after how much trouble he had at school with his dyslexia and dyspraxia) and has achieved way beyond what many 'professionals' said he would. Now he's a quiet but funny lad who loves science and animals. Aspergers isn't a barrier, other people's reactions to it is. ❤

What a sensitive and enlightening write . I hate it that our children/young people are labeled as they are all unique in their own right.

@jojo72 awww Hun ...THANKYOU so very much for your lovely comment...yes my son has learnt coping strategies for different things...he also says it as he sees it, but I like that about him, it's honesty at its most honest, if that makes sense...he has enriched our lives so so much and I'm so incredibly proud of how far he has come, as when I was doing my research , there are lots of negatives, but I only see him as a positive soul...very grateful for your kind words Hun and here's a tissue ...mwah 😘😘✨🎄🎅

@Irrational_Kimmi so very true my sweet...it fills me with happiness reading your wonderful comment about your brother...my son is already talking about secondary school and is anxious but he has a circle of friends who'll also be going to the same school and with support hopefully the transition will be fairly smooth...some people think he is aloof or rude...but once he clicks with you he is fine...he's bright, very quiet, but has a wicked sense of humour...he is a delight ❤😘💪💪💪💪

@Tiia THANKYOU for your lovely comment Hun . Once we knew our son had Aspergers I didn't push for intervention as he was coping well, had IEP's in place at school and together we ensured he was happy and content. It worked as he has gone from strength to strength...I never wanted him labelled as he is who he is, not defined by what he is, I felt strongly about that. Merry xmas Hun 😘🎄🎅

@MrsS @eddie12309 bless you gorgeous ladies for the lovely comments...it's been tough...I've had sleepless nights with worry and fear but thankfully it's behind us...I'm sure we will have moments that will be hard but when I see how my son tries to cope that gives me the kick up the butt to stop feeling sorry for myself...his strength gives me strength...being a mummy is tough at times but the rewards...well you can't put a price on it can you...Merry Xmas wonderful ladies and wonderful mummy's ...mwah mwah 😘😘❤❤🎄🎄⛄⛄🍸🍸
