A Day In The Life Of My Son

Hi my names Adam,i'm 10 years old and I have Asperger's syndrome
Just wanted to take you through a typical day on my life
I always wake up between 6-7 am and I either go into mums bedroom and sit on the carpet till she wakes up or I go and wake up my sister so I'm not alone
I used to sit on the toilet floor but now it's been floor tiled its far too cold!
When mums up I begin my strict routine,go downstairs and have half a bowl of cereal and one slice of toast on a blue plate,if its on any other colour I refuse to eat it!
Then I brush my teeth and rinse mouth with a blue cup and no other colour, then I get dressed, has to be done in correct order and if my sisters around I always shout and get angry with her cause I like to get dressed on my own!
If I see any labels on my clothes I won't wear them till all labels are cut off, then when it's time to go to school I have to stand outside for a bit before I walk to school, don't know why it's just what I do,on the walk to school my mum has to keep a close eye on me cause if i see a dog or even a fly,I will run into the busy road to avoid them!
I always get on well at school because its very well structured but I struggle to make friends cause i tend
To ignore what other children say to me so they think I'm being rude but its just how I am!
When I get home my sisters playing loud music which makes me mad and I scream and hold my hands on my ears because sounds like that are amplified to unbearable levels in my head!
I have a special hideaway under my cabin bed where I hide away for an hour or so every evening to get some peace, then I start checking my watch and clock because dinner has to be ready at 6 pm sharp or I lose my temper,I start hassling mum or dad around 5.45 about getting dinner ready for 6 and I pester constantly till its ready!
Then I have my bath which has to be filled so it covers my legs when I'm sat in it or I just get straight back out!
After my bath I was pestering my sister and upsetting her,my mum said 'Adam can you leave your sister alone please!' I think about this statement and think 'can I leave her alone?' No!! She needs to say 'Adam leave your sister alone!' Then I'll leave her alone!
I get into bed tired but I can't sleep unless smooth fm is on my digital radio,it's been a long day!

Excellent mate 👏👏👏👏😃

Thanks for writing that, there is a lot of ignorance about this and this helps us to understand it more, there seems to be a lot of stress for him if you are not very caring, I'll bet a lot of children remain undiagnosed and are just classed as disturbed. 😌

Interesting write. Thank you for sharing. I hope you guys have the needed supports and services. Have you seen the movie Autism: a musical? It's really good. A documentary about children with autism putting in a musical production
